WHAT IS MICROBLOGGING?

WHAT IS MICROBLOGGING?

Microblogging is said to be a practice of posting pieces of digitalised information on the web. This web service can be in the form of text, pictures, a link, videos, or any other form of media communication. Similarly, people use microblogging to be in touch with family, friends and for informing on events, such as the Bagdad blogger during the Iraqi invasion 2003.

Microblogging is spontaneous, interactive and its subscribers can send instant messages to one other, which could usually be as brief as 140 -200 text characters.

Furthermore, it has been defined by the microblink website to be a form of ‘short, succinct messages, used by both consumers and businesses to share news, post status updates and carry on conversations,

Two good examples of use of microblogging are twitter and jaiku. They are interactive and promote a learning environment, which therefore enhances learning through efficiency.
